What are Box Mods?
A box mod is a way of vaping that best suits those who do not have the time for the technical aspects of vaping and prefer convenience. A box mod is a vape mod that in most cases looks like a "box mod" because most are rectangular and bulky like a box. The main reason most people choose a box mod over a mechanical mod is for regulation. A box mod is more regulated because you get to control all the settings. With a mechanical mod, you just throw in your battery, put on your tank or RDA of choice and begin vaping. With a box mod, you throw on your tank or RDA, set the wattage to your preference, get to monitor the temperature of your vaping (with the temperature control feature of most box mods), and most importantly- a box mod will not fire if you have an unsafe setup on your device. Let's have a more in-depth look of box mods.
Box mods allow users to control the current that heats up their tanks and/or RDAs. This is done with the variable wattage feature that box mods have. All box mods have the capability to increase and decrease the wattage their box mod gives off by increments of .1 watts. This is useful for those using specific resistances because certain coils can only handle a certain amount of watts running through them. Another benefit of box mods having variable wattage is that users can increase or decrease the wattage depending on whether or not they prefer a hot, light, or smooth vape. Those who enjoy a hot vape for increase the wattage. Those who like a light vape would decrease the wattage. Those who prefer a smooth vape would play with the wattage and find a happy medium that suits their preference. Another benefit of variable wattage is the size of the clouds produced. Obviously, increasing the wattage to the maximum potential on your box mod will produce massive, thick clouds of vapor. Variable wattage of box mods can range from 20 watts to 220 watts.
Box mods include the temperature control feature mainly as a safety device. With the box mods temperature control setting, you set a degree that you do not want you coil to exceed. In other words, if you set your temperature control to 400 degrees, your device will stop sending s current to your coils until it cools down. In most cases, the box mod will not completely stop sending a current through the coils, rather, it will limit the amount set to the coil. This feature is intact so that your coils do not overheat. Also, mainly for RDA's, it prevents the coils from getting too hot and potentially melting the insulator. A melted insulator will destroy your entire tank and/or RDA. Using a box mod with temperature control is a good idea.
Box mods are fantastic and simple to use, but like everything in life, it has its flaws. The biggest complaint some people have about vaping with a box mod is that it is too bulky. This is annoying to most people who vape with a box mod because it can be pain to put in their pocket or it may not even fit in their pocket at all! Box mods are so bulky because of what is housed within. Most box mods have an internal battery which is charged via USB cables. If the box mod does not have an internal battery, 9 out of 10 times it is bulky because it requires 2x 18650 batteries to operate. Another reason for box mods being so bulky is that they also have a lot of computerized equipment housed in them. All this computerized hardware is what allows the box mods to have so many amazing features. In addition, every box mod has an LCD that allows the person vaping to see their coil temperature, wattage, and resistance of their coils. This LCD screen also requires an adequate amount of space if it is going to be large enough for the person vaping to be able to read it without a magnifying glass.
Vaping with a box mod is certainly easy and more convenient than vaping with a mechanical mod. Vaping with a box mod is totally worth the hassle off carrying such a bulky device to vape with. Those who choose to vape with a box mod can see through the downsides of the device and enjoy the magnificent features. Box mods are very advanced and simple. They are also easy to maintain and are not as expensive as mechanical mods. Another bonus is that if you choose to vape with a box mod, you can often buy the mod as kit that includes a tank. It is amazing because it is a one time purchase that gets you completely set up to vape. I recommend vaping with a box mod if you want something powerful to vape with, but do not want to get into all the technicalities of vaping.
