There is no better feeling than when everything feels right with the world. Happiness is something that we all want and strive for. Who wants to feel down? Nobody! When we are happy everything we experience daily feels so much better. It's like we have a specific lens we see through, but only when we are happy. Everything becomes filtered into a positive light. Being happy also tends to make us down to earth as well. By this I mean that we tend to treat others and ourselves better. When we come across happiness, we try our best to hold onto it as long as we can. Emotional health and happiness should be something that we all search and strive for. Finding emotional happiness is the most important thing we can accomplish.
Happiness, by definition, is the state of being happy. What does this mean though? A psychological definition of happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Philosophers define happiness as living a good life, or flourishing, as opposed to it being an emotion. I believe both definitions are true. In a way, the two definitions go hand-in-hand; you can't live a good life unless you have positive or pleasant emotions.
Negativity is what holds most people back from experiencing happiness. Negativity is poisonous and contagious. It is defined as the expression of criticism of or pessimism about something. It affects you and everyone around you. Being negative is simply looking at every situation in a light that makes it look dark and unbearable. This gloomy lens makes it so you won’t enjoy anything because you will never see the good in a person or situation. This leads to nothing but misery. It also makes others want to keep their distance from you. Why? Who wants to be around a person who is always miserable because they can’t see the good in anything.
Being positive is the only way you will ever achieve emotional health happiness. Positivity is the only emotional happiness tip that can be given to you. You need to train your brain to see things in a positive light. Don’t think that it is impossible to get out of the habit of being negative all the time. There are numerous techniques to train the brain to think positively or at least ignore the negatives. These techniques include, but are not limited to: meditation, yoga, breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness techniques. My personal favorite is what’s know as “mindfulness meditation” because it is a combination of all the things I just mentioned. I highly recommend looking into these techniques. Positivity is the key to emotional health and happiness.
